About Old Borough House

The history

This historic house dates back five centuries and has been the former home of many important figures. The beach and coast are on your doorstep, while many top Cornish attractions are also close by.

Over its 500-year history this property has been home to several notable figures, including playwright JB Priestley and Sir Francis Drake. It still retains many of its original period features, and makes for an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. The beach and the South West Coast Path, with its glorious clifftop views, are just a ten-minute stroll away, while the village of Tintagel, steeped in legend, is also just a mile away.

The house

The accommodation retains much of its original charm and character, featuring slate floors and exposed wooden beams. Sea views can also be enjoyed from many of the rooms in the house. On the ground floor there is a reception room, lounge, dining area, kitchen and utility room. The reception room is a comfortable place to relax, and features a wood burner for added warmth. Inside the lounge, reached via a step down, is a TV/DVD and an original open fireplace. The dining area has plenty of space for a large family.

In the kitchen, which is also reached via a step-down, guests can find a range cooker, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. It leads out to a conservatory, which features comfortable seating and wonderful views out to sea. The utility room features a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a separate WC. On the first floor, there are four bedrooms as well as a bathroom and a shower room. The bedrooms consist of two doubles and two twin zip-and-links, which can be made into king-sizes on request. Both twins as well as one double are reached via a step down. The bathroom contains a bath and a WC, while the shower room contains a shower and a WC.

An enclosed garden area can be found outside of the property, which also features a patio, seating area and a BBQ. Here guests can enjoy some excellent views looking out to the coast and the sea. Ample parking is also provided.
